Issue Flash MX Help does not open as expected and
the search function does not work.
Reason The Flash MX help system and it's search
feature require that the Java Virtual Machine be
installed on the workstation in order to function
properly. Some versions of Windows, namely Windows
ME and XP Home Edition, do not have the Java
Virtual Machine installed, causing the help and
search features to fail.
The help system may also fail if a browser
pop-up blocker application is running on the
system.
Solution Download and install Java Virtual Machine
from the following third-party link: http://www.krm.com/techsupport/tech-downloads_mvm.html.
An alternate version is also available
using Windows Update. After installing the Java Virtual Machine
the computer must be restarted in order to use the
Flash MX help system.
If necessary turn off installed pop-up
blocker software. Some pop-up blockers prevent
Flash MX from running the help system in the
workstation's default browser. Additional information
For more information please see, Windows XP: error message appears
for missing Java virtual machine after accessing
Help files(TechNote 16091).
